Resources for Sidewalk Sunday School

The other day I was snooping around Metro Ministries website. I originally went to their site looking to see if Metro has written the 2nd year of their curriculum or not, but then I got distracted and saw a link that went to another website called MyMinistryNetwork.net. Continue reading ‘Resources for Sidewalk Sunday School’

Kids Camp

Well, Kids Camp is almost here.  I’ve been devoting most of my time towards kids camp the last two weeks.  We will be leaving out on Saturday to clean up camp and get it ready.  It used to be a little rough to have Power House run while I was at camp. Continue reading ‘Kids Camp’

Things I Learned at Metro Ministries

In last week’s post, I mainly put up pictures and talked a little bit about our trip. In this post, I’m going to share what I learned/noticed while I was at Metro. Some of the things that I learned/noticed at Metro I would like to add to Power House. Continue reading ‘Things I Learned at Metro Ministries’

We Made It Back.

We had a great time at Metro Ministries in Brooklyn. The craziest part was probably driving into NYC the first day. If you can drive in NYC, you can drive anywhere. :) When we finally made it to Metro Ministries, we were about an hour late due to traffic. We were rushing to nibble on whatever food we could as we were split up to go with different ministry teams throughout NYC. Some of us went to the Bronx, some to Harlem, and some to Coney Island. Continue reading ‘We Made It Back.’

New York, Here We Come

By the time you read this post, we will be on our way to Brooklyn.  There are 11 urban missionaries ready to tackle the 12+ hour road trip.   We are going to have a blast.  Continue reading ‘New York, Here We Come’

A Few Things

It’s been super busy around here. The most exciting news that I have is that we bought a van for Power House.  In the past, we’ve had a hard time getting kids from point A to point B just because we didn’t have a vehicle with enough seats. We are also planning on using the van to pull our Power House trailer. We never had a dedicated vehicle for this. We are able to kill 2 birds with one stone. :) A big thanks goes out to those who gave contributions to help us to purchase the van for Power House. Continue reading ‘A Few Things’

Kids & Salvation

A couple of months back we had a volunteer meeting where I spent a large portion of time talking about evangelizing and discipling kids. Most people are comfortable with the thought of discipling kids. But some people find it hard to believe that kids can genuinely become born again. I’ve even heard people say that if you offer children the chance to come to the altar to confess Jesus as Lord that you are exploiting children. They think that kids don’t understand what they are doing. Continue reading ‘Kids & Salvation’

A Great Book

Those of you who know me well know that by nature I’m not very organized. But I can honestly say, I’ve become a million times more organized than what I was 3 1/2 years ago when I first arrived at Reslife. I recently got the revelation that even my Bible study methods needed some organization. The beginning of my revelation started when I was in the Word Shoppe, our church bookstore. I wasn’t really looking for any particular book when I stumbled across a book that I thought was by Rick Renner. Rick Renner is the guy who can dissect one scripture and squeeze a whole sermon out of it. The book said on the cover “12 Bible Study Methods”. I quickly grabbed the book and thought, “Sweet, 12 Bible Study Methods by Rick Renner. I’m going to be a Biblical genius!” Continue reading ‘A Great Book’
