Power House During the Summer is Awesome!

Here at Power House when the weather gets warm, out comes the water. The other day at our Sunflower site we changed things up a bit we gave our usual lesson and then the rest of the time we played water games. Probably the funnest game that we played was water balloon volleyball. It’s like volleyball except instead of using a volleyball, you use a water balloon. Well, we actually used 12″ balloons filled with water. :) Using a sheet each team tries to launch a water balloon to the other side. Sometimes the balloon makes it over, sometimes it doesn’t.

The kicker for the water games was if the boys won, I would get a 12″ water balloon popped over my head. If the girls won, another volunteer would get the water balloon busted on his head. In the end, I got the water balloon on my head, but the kids got more wet than myself since they got trash cans (Don’t worry they were clean trash cans.) full of water dumped on their heads.

We had a good time, but most importantly we made a connection with the kids and the parents of that community that day. Parents who don’t normally come to Power House came out of no where to see what was going on. Sometimes it is a good idea to break routine and do something different.
